Lecture hall and administration building, Ansbach University

As a new, completed element on the university grounds, the building will feature a massive perforated brick façade on all sides to create a dialogue with the existing structures. Its plasticity is emphasised by recessed windows and deep metal reveals. The actual daylight openings are determined by the requirements of the rooms lying behind them and their differing purposes. Oblique reveal panels at the top and to the sides create a new overall image out of these functionally necessary openings in the front plane of the brick façade. The interior courtyard forms the common centre to the facility; this recessed area of the building features floor-to-ceiling glazing, in contrast to the massive perforated façade.
The three-storey structure with its square ground plan, which appears compact from outside, is divided both spatially and functionally by the off-centre interior courtyard into two separate areas for administration and lecture theatres/auditorium. These are developed along the façades of the interior courtyard on both sides.
