Side plan

The old town of Goslar was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, together with the Rammelsberg ore mine. Within sight of the medieval imperial palace, the former barracks site south of Domplatz is now being transformed into an urban destination by a town hall and hotel. We are positioning the city hall on the greened Domplatz with a view of the old town. Together with the hotel and the barracks buildings, the hall encloses a paved square that can be used as an event location within sight of the imperial palace. The new buildings mediate between the different scales of the adjacent buildings and trace the course of the historic rampart.
