Hybrid Building, Landsberg am Lech Read more

A new, mixed-use neighborhood will be developed on the site of a former plow factory. The new hybrid building consists of dwellings, artist studios, and cultural facilities. It is located directly by the Lech River opposite the historic city center and marks the beginning of the new city quarter.
With their large-scale volumes and shed roofs, the former buildings of the plow factory have shaped the banks of the Lech River for a long time. The new addition takes up the industrial scale and its urban typology. The event area on the ground floor with a wide-spanning supporting structure is oriented towards the future town square. The houses of the old town of Landsberg with their alleys and squares were the inspiration for the small-scale residential and studio buildings. These contrasting urban typologies are combined to form a monolithic structure and are given an urban character through the sloped roofs. Since the requirements for living and workspaces are subject to constant change, we developed a flexible modular system. The basic module with pantry kitchen and bathroom is self-sufficient and functionally neutral. The horizontal and vertical combination of these modules generates different living typologies and can also be supplemented by studios.
